About Travelling Angels

1) Does Travelling Angels add any costs onto the airfares?

No. The airfares are based on availability and airline costs plus the 7% surcharge from our Travel Agent. (this is a standard fee for all travel agents). Our fee of (click here for prices) for the Angel is the only additional cost.

2) Does Travelling Angels get any discounts from the airlines?

We aim to get the best available airfare for our clients on the day. We use the group booking system to try and reduce the cost of airfares for you.

3) Is it cheaper to book children through Travelling Angels than direct with an airline?

Sometimes this is the case. Booking your fare with Travelling Angels means you do not have to pay a “child’s fare” with the airlines but may be able to obtain a cheaper ticket price when we book with our group. We strive to get the best fare for you however it is still subject to availability, times, locations and peak season travel.

4) Why can’t I book direct with the airline and then book an Angel though Travelling Angels?

Children’s fares can not be booked over the internet. When making a booking with the airline, they will be logged with the airline as an unaccompanied minor and your booking shall be treated this way.

Travelling Angels would not be able to secure the booking and seating of your child if the booking is made direct with the airline.

Booking through Travelling Angels mean your child will not be identified as an “unaccompanied minor”, as they will be travelling with an Angel and we will be able to link the seating allocation with the Angels to travel in our group.

About Unaccompanied Minors

1) What is an Unaccompanied Minor (UM)?

An Unaccompanied Minor is a child aged between 5 and 16 who is travelling alone. A child aged 12-16 is classified as a Young Person Travelling Alone (YP).

2) Why are the children identified as UM”s?

Airlines require this as a security measure to ensure your child’s safety. The crew need to be aware of the children to seat them appropriately, allocated meals and drinks and to ensure their safe delivery to the assigned person at the arrival gate.

3) Do airlines allow children under 5 to travel as UM’s?

No, we are not aware of any airline that will allow a child under 5 to travel as a UM and do not recommend it.

4) Does Travelling Angels permit children under 5 to travel with them?

Travelling Angel’s will chaperone siblings from 3 years of age to 16 years of age.

Your needs

1) Will Travelling Angels provide a one on one service for my child?

Yes! This can be arranged direct with Travelling Angels. A premium fee will apply in this situation.

2) What if my child/children are travelling into a high security/risk area?

At present, Travelling Angels is only providing services on Australian national routes. However, if a high risk area has been identified prior to the booking, we can provide a chaperone with specialised skills, such as nursing, security or linguistic background. Again, a premium fee would apply.

3) Can Travelling Angels pick up the children from home?

No. Travelling Angels focuses solely on the chaperoning of children on-board aircrafts and in airport terminals.

4) What if I would like the “Angel” to remain with the children and then return with them on their return flight?

Travelling Angels would be happy to pre-arrange this for you, and have forged alliances with nannying agencies for this purpose.

Logistics

1) What happens if flights are delayed?

Our office will contact the nominated person/s ASAP to inform them of the delay. For further information, see our terms & conditions policy)

2) Why do Travelling Angels do pre-flight safety training with the kids?

Emergency Procedure Training is very important, so important that on every single flight, a crew member demonstrates it. Children also need to know what to do in an emergency and how to respond. Our demonstration is on an age appropriate level with a small colouring book to reiterate the learning. It is designed to educate the children in a fun way.
